From Darren :

This is my 1952 GMC purchased in 2003 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada from the high-school shop teacher for $400. The teacher said it was parked since 1980 or so, but he and his son had it running once.

I removed [ pix ] and dismantled the engine to find that one of the cylinders [ pix ] failed due to a hole in the oil pan trough.

This is a Canadian GMC. The engine is a 216 and "the numbers match."

Moving from Yorkton to Regina forced the truck into storage due to loss of a garage. However, it's time to put this truck on the road! So, I built a garage last summer, wrecked my '67 GMC this spring, and the storage bills are adding up.

The truck seems to be complete and original: 6 volt, 3-speed, 216 ... but not in very good shape.

I don't have plans, money or patience to restore this truck to original or museum condition. However, I would like to get this truck serviceable as quick and cheap as possible. I need a working truck to haul dirt, wood, drywall or whatever -- and this will fill the bill.

The truck was likely employed on a farm in northeast Saskatchewan (Pelly area) for most of its working life.

I don't have family or kids to spend time or money on ... so the truck is it.
